In March 2006 former delivery driver Sukh Bassi took over this Bargain Booze franchise from his cousin, driven by the desire to work for himself.

This former Thresher outlet had been empty for two years prior to Sukh’s cousin opening the store originally in 2002 and took 3 years to become established on the Shell.

It’s a Family Business with Sukh’s wife Indi sharing the responsibility of running the shop which is both an off-licence and convenience store. Sukh says, “the people of Shell Corner are really nice” and he gets on well with most of them. Like other traders he would like to see more parking and the empty units being filled.

He believes alcohol should be consumed in a responsible manner and would welcome a ban on drinking alcohol on the streets within Shell Corner.
